  • Marriage: Mary Irby Kent of Blacksburg, on 15 September 1852. She was born in Rockford, Illinois on 27 April 1836, daughter of Germanicus and Arabella (Amiss) Kent
  • Children: Elizabeth A., Alexander, & Charles White Black
  • Military Service: Served in Mexican War with Capt James Francis Preston and in Confederate Army, Stonewall Brigade as surgeon
  • Occupation: Medical doctor; 1 Jan 1876 to 10 March 1882 superintendent of Eastern Lunatic Asylum, Williamsburg
  • Post Office: Blacksburg

Photo from the American Civil War Museum in Richmond showing a group of Confederate veterans. The back notes the date as September 10, 1923, and the location as Blacksburg, Virginia. It also identifies one of these men (Dr) Woolwine. The photo was attributed to the Harvey Black Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
